Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has made a third bid for Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling in the hope of getting a deal done quickly before City get caught up in a bidding war with another club for the 20-year-old’s services.

So far the Dubai backed side has seen bids of £30 million and then £35 million with add-on worth a further £5 million, but Liverpool has stood resolute sticking to their £50 million valuation of the England forward.

Now having upped their offer to a total of £45 million there is a big possibility that a deal can be done, even if it might take a little bit of oil to grease Liverpool’s wheels the Merseyside club does not want to see City walk away on look for talent elsewhere.

If it was up to manager Brendan Rodgers a deal would be sanctioned right away, as the last thing he wants is to see the Sterling saga drag on all summer and could use the £45 million to sign Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke and also Southampton right-back Nathaniel Clyne.
