Much speculation has surrounded who Manchester United’s secret striker target is after the Dutchman claimed even the newspapers did not know who it was while club executive vice chairman Ed Woodward takes care of all the clubs summer transfer business.

The Daily Mirrors David McDonnell who has been following the Red Devils pre-season tour from his base in San Francisco says he thinks that the player in question is Juventus striker Fernando Llorente.

The link with the 30-year-old former Athletico Bilbao front-man came about during discussions over Angel Di Maria’s proposed £45 million move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Meanwhile it would appear United has not given up hope of signing Thomas Muller from Bayern Munich, so guessing as to who United’s striker target is, looks set to continue over the next few weeks.
