Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal feels his side should have had the match wrapped up at half-time.

United were far the better team during the first half but failed to put away what appeared to be clear cut chances to score forcing the Red Devils to settle for a point at White Hart Lane in a goalless draw.

“We played the best match of Manchester United in the first half,” said Van Gaal to talkSPORT.

“We created a lot of opportunities, we could have scored, but we were not as effective as usual. It is a pity.

“In the second half it was more of a struggle. There was no football. Tottenham won the second ball more and they also created three chances.

“Van Persie, Mata and Falcao also had big chances. It is frustrating that you cannot win when you are the better team.”

Manchester United remains third in the table following the draw with Spurs and has now gone nine matches unbeaten.
