Manchester united defender, Phil Jones has backed his manager Louis van Gaal’s to be a huge success in the English Premier League despite the manager’s philosophy been criticised in recent weeks with Manchester United poor start to the season.

Louis Van Gaal changed the orthodox 4-4-2 formation in Old Trafford to a 3-5-2 formation upon his arrival at the club in the summer and the formation has come under scrutiny by many.

Manchester United is yet to secure any win this season in four competitive matches losing three English Premier League matches and a humiliating 4-0 Capital one cup loss to Mk Dons.

Although the team have salvaged two points in three Premier League matches, they have been largely disappointing in their style of play throughout this season with both the losses to Swansea and Mk Dons summarizing the poor standard of play by the team.

The 4-0 loss to Mk Dons in the Capital One Cup stood out in the media’s criticism of the team’s 3-5-2 formation but Phil Jones insisted that he is comfortable with the new system and it’s not of any problem to the team.

He claimed he enjoys playing in the system and disclosed everyone is working together to achieve success and believes when the system works, their opponents will find it difficult to play against them.

Phil Jones who is with the English national team played his 12th match for the Three Lions in their 1-0 friendly win against Norway at Wembley and also played a part in the 2-0 win away in Switzerland on Monday.

Like every other player, he will also be hoping for a good run of form by his club, Manchester United which will assist hi, stay in the national team setup.

The player also confirmed his interest to be a regular starter as a centre – back for both club and country.

It’s understandable for a player of Phil Jones’ calibre to come out and commend the system at Old Trafford.

The player will want to keep his place and the fact that the board didn’t bring in top and renowned defenders has placed in front of him a golden opportunity to claim his place and become a top English defender.

Although the talent was there several years back, Phil Jones must work really hard to remain consistent and prove himself in Old Trafford as he also hopes to get a chance in securing the starting berth in the English squad.

He may not have all the time in the world to prove his worth and if he’s to make an impression, it must come this season and it must come fast.
