After a season in which Liverpool has struggled to find goals the normally trustworthy Telegraph is running a story in its Monday edition claiming that Liverpool could spend as much as £60 million on three new strikers this summer.

First on the list is Manchester United target Memphis Depay followed by Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke and Burnley’s Danny Ings.

The article goes on to say that deal done last summer for Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli have turned out to be disasters and that manager Brendan Rodgers knows he has to alter his attack before next season.

Of the three deals the hardest one to pull off will be getting 21-year-old Memphis Depay to sign up especially so if Liverpool is not involved in the Champions League.

As for Benteke and Ings the broadsheet writes: Benteke is also on Liverpool’s radar after his recent return to form, though he could cost more than £30 million, while Ings is expected to leave Burnley at the end of the season.

The paper goes on to say that Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini and Lucas Leiva will all be sold to raise funds.
