Liverpool will face stiff competition from moneybags French outfit Monaco if they decided to go after Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi.

The astronomically rich principality side has plenty of money at their disposal following the sale of James Rodriguez, and along with the ability to offer all of their player’s wages tax free seems like an obvious choice for the 21-year-old Argentinian.

Liverpool however has the history and the fame to make any young player want to join them, and at this particular moment in time the Merseyside club is flush with cash following the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona for £75 million.

Italian website Tuttosprot is suggesting that Inter has set the price at 30€ million and that both clubs would be willing to pay that amount.

Here at Soccer Transfers we are of the opinion that Liverpool would rather pay £25 million more for PSG’s Edinson Cavani or look for a bargain buy such as Swansea’s Wilfried Bony who they could sign for less than £20 million.
