As Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers continues to add to his squad ahead of European football next season the Kop bosses latest target appears to be once again interested in 20-year-old Serbian winger Lazar Markovic now that Benfica are according to the Sunday People ready to accept less than the £30 million they were first asking.

Rodgers has been following Markovic for some time, and was worried that Chelsea might come in at the last minute and snap him up as they have done with previous Liverpool targets, but the news from the Serbians camp is that he would prefer to go to Anfield.

Rodgers is now hoping that they can agree a quick deal and that Benfica can line up Nani as his replacement as incoming manager Louis van Gaal looks set to let the Portuguese winger leave Old Trafford.
