Following on from Liverpool’s impressive 0-3 win at White Hart Lane on Sunday Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers while being interviewed after the match said that there was the possibility of one new player coming in, but it was much more likely that several fringe players might be leaving Anfield after being told by the boss that they were not a part of his future plans.

“Players will mostly be going out rather than coming in,” said Rodgers.

“Maybe one more will come in. A few boys have been told they aren’t going to get much game time so they have been given that respect early on to help themselves find a club.”

One such player is Brazil international Lucas who started for the Reds in Liverpool’s season opener against Southampton, but has not even been on the bench for their next two matches leading to speculation that he may be on his way to Napoli where he will link up with former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez.

“Lucas is a very important member of our squad and he is unfortunate not to be in,” said Rodgers after win at Tottenham. “I’ve not had anything through about him leaving but we will see how the next few days go.”

Reports coming out of Spain are suggesting that former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes is on the brink of signing for Liverpool where he will be back up keeper for current number one Simon Mignolet.
