Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers stated before the opening of this summer’s transfer window that he wanted enough players to provide competition for starting places this next season, and the only place he does not have covered right now is at left-back.

Following Alberto Moreno’s £12 million transfer from Sevilla last summer the Spaniard has been the clubs starter at left back, with no competition from fellow countryman Jose Enrique, who is expected to be one of the players to exit Anfield this summer.

Moreno for his part did as well as can be expected for a newcomer to the Premiership, but does has some injury worries that have Rodgers looking not only at completion but also cover in the left-back position, which is where Paris Saint-Germain’s 22-year-old French international Lucas Digne steps in.

Digne has been linked with a move to Liverpool in the past, and now that his agent has suggested that he could be interested in leaving the French Champions, Liverpool of course are interested.

They will not be alone however in their attempts to sign him, with both Atletico Madrid and Roma also said to be interested, but if Rodgers wants to have a fully balanced squad for the season ahead, a £17 million deal for a French international who is still very young looks like a good move to us, and would in theory end what has been a very productive transfer window for the Merseyside club.
