Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has rejected reports linking Chelsea to the singing of Zenit St Petersburg star Axel Witsel, despite reports last week saying that Chelsea’s Russian billionaire owner Roman Abramovich had jetted of to St Petersburg to get a deal done for the Belgium international.

The 26-year-old midfielder has been on Chelsea’s radar for some time, and had increased the Blues interest after having admitted he was up for a new challenge, and while an off again on again move to AC Milan keeps making the headlines, Blues boss Mourinho says he does not have a place for Witsel in his current team.

“At this moment we have Matic, Ramires, Cesc, Mikel, Loftus-Cheek and Oscar. Six midfield players. I have no extra space.”
