Liverpool now looks set to rival Chelsea for Shakhtar Donetsk attacking midfielder Douglas Costa after representatives of the 24-year-old Brazilian were in London last week to talk with Chelsea about a deal.
Chelsea were interested back in January, but Mourinho opted instead to concentrate on signing Fiorentina’s Colombian international Juan Cuadrado shelving plans for Costa.
Liverpool boss Rodgers is also keen on Juventus target Oscar, but sees Douglas Costa as a more realistic prospect, although he may have to make the Brazilian some promises about regular football if Liverpool fails to qualify for the Champions League.
