Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has made his second signing of the season after Liverpool triggered the buyout clause of £9.75million (12m euro) for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Emre Can according to the Daily Mail.

‘Up until yesterday, I would have said it was just rumours about Emre,’ Leverkusen’s chief executive Michael Schade told German paper Bild. ‘But now I can confirm that we have received an official offer from Liverpool, and I expect a very quick conclusion to it.’

The Kop boss Rodgers has been chasing the German U-21 international for some time personally checking on the player’s progress.

The 20-year-old German is a classic box to box midfielder and should provide Liverpool with extra strength in the middle of the park.

Liverpool now look to have the deal completed by the end of the week as they focus in on other reinforcements ahead of Champions League football next season.
