According to the Daily Star and carried in the Daily Mirror Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has been told he can have Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema for £38 million.

The French international is said to be unhappy with his life in Madrid with constant talk that Los Blancos are now looking to cash in on a player who has scored 113 goals in 243 appearances for the club.

According to the papers Rodgers has already had private talks with Los Blancos executives and has been told that the Spanish giants are ready to cash in on Benzema and that he is available.

In other Liverpool news striker Mario Balotelli has been told that he must start scoring goals after his poor performance in the 1-0 loss to Basel Wednesday night in Switzerland.

Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that Balotelli will be dropped for the upcoming Euro qualifiers by new Italian coach Antonio Conte with the former Juventus boss giving the call to Southampton’s Graziano Pelle instead.
