Liverpool and Spurs to go after Zenit striker

Liverpool could go head to head with Tottenham over Zenit Saint Petersburg striker Salomon Rondon, and are prepared to pay £20 million to get their man.

The Venezuelan international is said to be desperate to leave Russia this summer, and has both the Premiership teams interested with sources in Caracas saying they see him as a cheaper alternative to Porto’s Jackson Martinez.

The 25-year-old only joined the Russian outfit in 2014 for £15.8 million, but has already decided he would like to play elsewhere.

Obtaining a work permit would also be just a formality after him having played 36 games for his country.

Tottenham will be looking to replace Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado this summer while Liverpool looks for someone to fill the void left by Luis Suarez after Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert all failed to produce the goals the Reds were looking for.
