Chelsea and Liverpool target Edin Dzeko will refuse to leave Manchester City this summer despite manager Manuel Pellegrini wanting to offload some of his older higher paid players in order to make room for Raheem Sterling, Paul Pogba and Kevin De Bruyne.

Bosnian international striker Edin Dzeko has already been told he is surplus to requirements at the Etihad with strikers Wilfried Bony and Sergio Aguero the Chileans first choice, but has decided to dig his heels in while being quite content sitting on his £17 million fortune.

The 29-year-old still has two years remaining on his contract with Manchester City and appears not to mind being a bench warmer while still raking in 189,000 euros per-week.

His agent Irfan Redzepagic said: “Every day he is linked to some other club. I am bored of repeating those stories are not true.

“Edin has contract with Man City until 2018 and is happy at the club.”
