Liverpool, Chelsea

Following the departure of Cesc Fabregas to Chelsea, new Barcelona manager Luis Enrique has wasted no time in finding a replacement by signing Sevilla playmaker Ivan Rakitic on a five-year-deal that will also see Denis Suarez move to Sevilla on loan.

The 26-year-old Croatian international has established himself as one of La Liga’s top player during his three-seasons at Seville that did not go unnoticed by both Liverpool and Chelsea who were interested in bringing him to play in the Premiership according to talkSPORT.

Last season Rakitic scored 15 goals for Seville while leading them to European success beating Benfica 4-2 on penalties to win the Europa League title.

Rakitic is currently playing for Croatia in the World Cup finals in Brazil, but grew up in Switzerland the son of Croatian immigrants begging his football career with Basle before moving to Schalke in 2007 and then to Sevilla in 2011.

The move to the Nou Camp is just the first of what we here at Soccer Transfers think will be a busy summer for the Catalan’s boss as he tries to rebuild one of Europe’s top teams.
