Feyenoord look set to land Dirk Kuyt after Salomon Kalou confirmed the Liverpool striker wants to head home.
Kuyt and Chelsea forward Kalou played for the Rotterdam club before moving to the Premier League.
Holland international Kuyt was their top scorer for three seasons before his switch to Anfield in 2006, with Kalou leaving the same year for London.
‘Dirk told me he wants to return now,’ said Kalou on Dutch TV. ‘Dirk said to me that I also must come, that we both have to return to Feyenoord.’
Feyenoord are ready to break the bank to lure 31-year-old Kuyt back as a player/coach while Hamburg, Fiorentina and Galatasaray are also interested.
Kuyt has been told he can leave the club for £1m in the summer.
A source said: ‘Feyenoord have made Kuyt a great offer to come home.
‘He is still a hero in Rotterdam and they’d love him back.
‘But because he’s 31 now, Feyenoord have made it clear it would have to be next season or never.’
