Klopp to resign putting Premiership clubs on ALERT

Borussia Dortmund manager Jürgen Klopp is going to announce he is leaving the North Rhine Westphalia club with Dortmund due to hold a press conference at 12.30pm.

The 47-year-old won the German Bundesliga title with Dortmund in 2010 and the following year 2011 before taking them to the Champions League final at Wembley where they were beaten by Bayern Munich.

This season however has been much different following a disastrous start that now sees them 10th in the Bundesliga and certain to miss out on European football next season.

Klopp’s imminent departure has a number of English clubs on alert with the former FSV Mainz 05 player and then manager has been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool in the past.

Given Manchester City’s poor season the Etihad looks the most likely destination as City looks to get rid of at least six senior players and quite possibly manager Manuel Pellegrini as well.
