Following the sacking of Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, some of the UK’s leading bookmakers have made the Portuguese manager the favourite to take over from Louis van Gaal at Manchester United according to reports.

The former Porto, Inter Milan and Real Madrid trainer was relieved of his duties at Stamford Bridge yesterday following the worst defence of the title by any club in the history of the Premier League.

And while speculation mounts as to who will be his successor in West London the bookies have already earmarked him to replace Dutch tactician Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford.

The 52-year-old former Blues man is 2/1 to replace Louis van Gaal with BetVictor, while PaddyPower have installed him as the 6/5 favourite to be the next man in the Old Trafford hot seat.

Meanwhile 64-year-old van Gaal has a contract until 2017, but these latest developments and the current form of Manchester United could speed up his departure from the club.

Here at Soccer Transfers we are not too sure how well the appointment of Jose Mourinho would go down with the Manchester United faithful who are already fed up with a lack of attacking style, only to see a manager come in who is famous for parking the bus.
