Manchester United, David Moyes

Despite all the assurances Manchester United manager David Moyes has been given as to the safety of his job at Manchester United the very people that need to come out and verbally support the beleaguered boss remain ominous with their silence according to an article in the Manchester Evening News.

Former manager Sir Alex Ferguson made his comments over the weekend backing Moyes while flying to Los Angeles to attend the Oscars saying: “He (Moyes) needs time. I was there for 27 years so with a new manager, it takes time. But they’ll be OK.

“It’s early days and there have been a lot of changes.”

Louis van Gaal has emerged as a contender for the United job should David Moyes get fired after announcing that he will leave the Dutch national team at the end of the World Cup adding to speculation that the 62-year-old would be interested should a vacancy open up at Old Trafford.

“I will definitely not be in charge for the Euro 2016 qualification campaign. I don’t know where I will go next, normally I go with my pension, and go to live in Portugal, but maybe there will come a new challenge,” he said.

“I have said before that a challenge should be a club in the Premier League. That’s a challenge. But, first, we have to go to Brazil.”

If you were to compare Van Gaal’s CV to that of David Moyes it would leave you with no doubt as to who should be in charge of the Red Devils with the Dutchman having won the Champions League with Ajax , the La Liga title in Spain twice with Barcelona  and the Bundesliga title when in charge of Bayern Munich.

Since taking over Holland’s national team in the summer of 2012 he has only lost once in 18 matches, which all adds up to an impressive resume that Moyes could not even come close to matching.

The top brass at United are saying that they will give Moyes an impressive war chest to bring in new talent during the summer, and are determined to get deals done early after the mess they made in the transfer market last summer failing to land the players they really wanted.

You would think that given United fall from grace that the owners of the club the Florida based Glazier family would at least voice their support of Moyes yet they remain tight lipped that only adds to all the speculation surrounding his future which will surly only resurface again should they not beat rivals Liverpool later in the month.
