Tuesday, May 1,talkSPORT understands Roy Hodgson will be announced as the new England manager at a press conference this afternoon.

Hodgson to be announced as new England boss

A 4pm press conference has been called at Wembley where the West Brom chief will be become the successor to Fabio Capello.
The 64-year-old attended a four-hour meeting on Monday when he met all four of the Club England board.
It is expected Hodgson will be handed a four-year contract but is likely to remain in charge for West Brom’s final two Premier League games – against Bolton and Arsenal – after which his deal with the Midlands outfit is due to expire anyway.
It was widely expected that Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp would be handed the reins with the national side, but since Sunday’s shock announcement that the FA had approached Hodgson, the former Switzerland chief has been the only contender.
