Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is ready to make big moves in January and trusts interim manager Guus Hiddink to identify possible targets.

The Dutchman’s No.1 priority is to sign a striker, and according to the Daily Mirror the man Hiddink wants is in form Leicester hit-man Jamie Vardy.

Hiddink said: “Let’s go into the next few games and then we’ll see. We didn’t stipulate, but we know also that it’s always open.

“But first I like to embed a bit now in the first days and games, and then we’ll see what happens. It depends on the results.

“Being interim manager is very good to your question … The future has to be determined by whoever is in charge then, not now.”

Hiddink also said that he would like to let more youngsters have a chance to break into the team, something he predecessor Jose Mourinho was not very good at, which bodes well for the likes of Charly Musonda and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Hiddink added: “He’s (Musonda) is a young guy I know. I haven’t seen him so far, but there is a big reputation preceding him. Let’s give the kid time to settle and practise with the academy first and then with us.

“I have some time to give judgement to young players, but I’ll have them in the toughness of first-team training as soon as possible.

“The loan is a strategical issue which we have to discuss in-house. It’s too early to discuss. Let’s give them time to develop.”
