Officials form Turkish giants Galatasaray flew into London over the weekend to see if they can iron out a deal for Arsenals Joel Campbell while at the same time asking questions about the availability of German international Lukas Podolski.

Just earlier in the month Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger had told the press that his desire was to keep the Costa Rican winger at the club saying: “Campbell has done very well.

“I like the way he plays.

“He is good on the ball, creative and collectively as well he has a good balance between individual skill and collective attitude – that’s not easy to find and there is no reason to let him go.”

Galatasaray have not given up their interest in Campbell however along with the Daily Star reporting that they were also given positive news regarding the availability of 29-year-old striker Podolski.

Meanwhile Gunners boss Wenger will have to do without his World Cup winning players Per Mertesacker, Lukas Podolski and Mesut Özil not due to return to training for another week.
