Former Chelsea star reveals why he joined PSG

Former Chelsea star defender David Luiz has said that Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic approached him during last season’s Champions League match between the two clubs and urged the Brazilian to leave Chelsea and move to France.

Luiz took the Swedish internationals advice joining the French champions for £44.3 million last summer and has just now admitted that his new teammate played a big part in his decision to leave Chelsea according to the Daily Mail saying: “He was one of the big reasons that I chose to join Paris.

“When Chelsea played Paris he said to me during the game,’ you need to come and play with us next season.’

“He is one of the best players in the world, and a great guy.”

Luiz is now hoping that he and Ibrahimovic can play a big role in beating Chelsea when they meet at the Parc des Princes Tuesday night for the first-leg of their last-16 Champions League match.

The former Chelsea man insists he has no ill will towards Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho despite the Portuguese manager saying that the club was better off without the centre-back.

“Mourinho and I have a mutual respect and I will shake his hand,” he added.

“Of course Mourinho knows Zlatan well from Inter and will have a plan to try and stop him, but when Zlatan is on form he is unstoppable.”
