Father’s Day gift ideas for the football lover

With Father’s Day just a couple of months away, Sunday June the 16 in the U.K.to be exact. We thought we would come up with some great ideas for the dad who loves football, and a way to give him something he is really going to like rather than those last minute ideas like a bottle of Scotch, or taking him out for a Sunday lunch.
Remember that when it comes to football gifts dads are just little kids that are inside an adults body, and no matter how much they might moan about teams changing their strip every season, and the cost of a football jersey to wear to the match or just to show off what team they support nothing gives you more street cred than wearing the teams latest jersey. Buy your dad a football gifts certificate from a sports shop such as JD Sports so this way when the new kit comes out he can get the latest shirt with the big summer signings name on the back. This season’s biggest selling jersey was Manchester United’s home shirt with their new star Robin van Persie’s name and the number 20 emblazoned on the back which van Persie himself picked the number 20 shirt saying: “I took the No.20 shirt because I’m here to win a 20th title with United.”

All of the top teams play a series of friendly matches in the summer with the big teams touring in the Far East or North America yet just a few weeks before the season kicks off they play a few matches against European opposition both at home and away which gives you the perfect opportunity to have a dream-break-away with your team that can be much cheaper than you would ever imagine. Most of the Premiership teams will announce their pre-season friendlies in June so you will not have to wait long before deciding where dad is going to be jetting off to.
Last season I decided that I was going to watch Tottenham pre-season friendly in Valencia, Spain, so started to do my research online to make sure that it could all be arranged and that I could get flights to coincide with the match.
The flight of course was the main expense, but it was easily arranged with EasyJet flying out from Gatwick in plenty of time for me to explore Valencia before the match which I have to say is a wonderful city to visit. The weather was beautiful, nice and sunny, and still warm enough to watch the game at night wearing only light summer clothing. All in all it was a fantastic short trip with the only downside being that Spurs lost 2-0, but it did not matter as I had such a great time. All told it cost me £300 for the trip and that included a 4-star hotel and tickets to the match.
We hope this has helped to give you an idea of the kind of  football gifts you can get for the farther who loves football.
