Fiorentina boss threatens to quit if Juan Cuadrado joins Chelsea

Fiorentina manager Vincenzo Montella has threatened to leave the club if La Viola sell Colombian winger Juan Cuadrado to Chelsea.

The manager’s threat of leaving has the club panicked after he has led them to 6th place in Serie A with a real chance of Champions League football next season.

Add to this the fact that Chelsea has only offered £20.5 million some £6 million short of Cuadrado’s buyout clause and the Italians are having second thoughts.

Chelsea’s plan B if the Cuadrado deal falls apart is to try and sign Shakhtar Donetsk’s Brazilian midfielder Douglas Costa, but the Ukrainians want to hold out for their £30 million valuation, a figure Chelsea will not be prepared to pay.

If neither deal can be done Chelsea could find themselves short with Mohamed Salah edging closer to Roma with £580,000 loan with a view to an £11 million sale in the summer.

Meanwhile Andre Schurrle’s agent is in London this weekend to push through his client’s £23 million move to Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.

Sources close to the German winger said last night “We expect something to happen in the next few days.”
