I have been telling people for some time now to watch the moves Monaco will make in the upcoming transfer season, and if the news coming out of Spain is correct the French Ligue 2 side who need only one point out of their next three matches in order to join the top-flight of French football look not only certain of promotion, but of challenging Paris Saint-Germain for the tile next season.
The news out of Spain last night as reported by television station La Sexta who are normally a reliable source is that Atletico Madrid Colombian striker Radamel Falcao has signed for AS Monaco for a reported 60 million euro’s and an annual salary of 10 million euro’s.
AS Monaco is owned by Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev who has the financial power to make the tiny principalities football team into a European powerhouse, and thanks to their very lenient tax rate they will have no problem attracting the top footballers who will manage to keep most of what they are paid rather than handing it over to the tax man.
If La Sexta is correct with this story the news is huge to grab one of the world’s best players from under the nose of another Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich who already had plans to bring Falcao to Chelsea.
