WAYNE ROONEY is desperate to turn from England cheerleader to Three Lions goal-getter in Tuesday night’s crunch Euro 2012 clash with Ukraine.

He is likely to be granted his wish by manager Roy Hodgson, relieved that the two-game ban on Rooney is over and England have a great chance of reaching the quarter-finals.

They need a point against the co-hosts and skipper Steven Gerrard admitted: “It’s a massive bonus for us having Wayne back. I said before the tournament the key thing is to get in a good position before Wayne comes back.

“He’s been itching to get back. You know what he’s like… he loves football, he’s kicking the ball around in the dressing room and jumping around like a fan.”
