He may now be playing in Turkey for Galatasaray, but Dutch international Dirk Kuyt has never forgotten how he was loved at Anfield and is urging his countryman Memphis Depay to choose Liverpool over Manchester United.
The 21-year-old PSV winger was in England last week with his representatives where he held meetings with the two Premiership sides who now appear set to enter a bidding war for his signature.
Former Red man Kuyt however is urging Depay to sign for Liverpool as he thinks he will have more opportunities to develop under Reds manager Brendan Rodgers.
‘I look through red glasses, because I’ve played six years for Liverpool. Only when Memphis does that, he will realize how big Liverpool are,’ he is quoted as saying in De Telegraaf.
‘Of course it would be an advantage at Manchester United because he knows the manager.
On the other hand it is important at his age that he plays every week. That’s the only way he can develop.’
