As the 26-year-old England international was preparing to enter into the final year of his contract at the Emirates, there was a big worry that just like the last time he was entering the final year of his contract that negotiations would drag on, and that he could get down to having just six months remaining and start to think about leaving as a free agent.
That worry however has now been avoided by starting talks early between the club and Walcott’s representatives, whose hard work this summer has reached an agreement that will see Walcott become one of the clubs top-earners, while also keeping him in north London for at least another four years.
Arsenal is now expected to confirm the deal in the next few weeks before their play their first home fixture of the season against West Ham.
