Dempsey signs for Spurs

Attacker makes shock move to White Hart Lane
Fulham midfielder Clint Dempsey has signed for Tottenham for £6million on a three-year deal.

Earlier on Friday, Aston Villa had a £7million bid accepted by Fulham.

But the West Midlands club soon ended their interest in signing the American as the attacker wanted to join Liverpool.

However, the Cottagers rejected a bid from the Reds.

And now the 29-year-old has successfully undergone a medical and agreed personal terms at Tottenham’s training ground as the north London club lure the American forward across the capital.

The club have already signed France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris from Lyon, according to sources.

And they are also hoping to bring Porto star Joao Moutinho to White Hart Lane, but are currently struggling to agree terms with the playmaker.

Tottenham, who have also been linked with Shakhtar Donetsk’s Willian, have money to spend following the £30million departure of Luka Modric and Rafael van der Vaart, who joined Hamburg earlier on Friday for a fee reported to be around £10million.
