According to Sky Sports former England international David Beckham has chosen Miami as the city where he intends to place his MLS soccer franchise.

After having looked at a number of American city’s in which to expand the footprint of the MLS Beckham has decided on Miami as his personal choice.

Currently there is no MLS team in the Southeastern United States with both Atlanta, and Orlando being other city’s mentioned for a team.

The option for the former Manchester United player to buy a soccer franchise was all part of a deal that took him to play for five years in Los Angeles for the LA Galaxy.

He was offered the chance to purchase his own team for $25 million a figure that is now worth for times that amount, and since retiring from football after a season with French champions Paris Saint-Germain the 38-year-old Beckham has been over in the States looking for the location for his team.

Currently football is starting to take off in America following NBC’s broadcast of every single Premiership game, with the domestic league in America set to expand their league from 19 teams to 24 teams by 2020.
