Former Arsenal player Ray Parlour speaking today on talkSPORT does not think that Manchester United’s Danny Welbeck would be the answer to Arsenal’s striker problems.

Meanwhile Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is eager to try and sign a new striker now that he knows Olivier Giroud will be out at least until next year with a broken foot.

Welbeck is available for a season long loan, but according to Parlour is not the answer to Arsenals short term problem.

“That is the position where they are really struggling,” he told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show. “I thought Remy was the choice with his experience, the obvious choice.

“Welbeck is a young player, he’s still learning, without a doubt he’s better than Sanogo, as a player, but he blows hot and cold. You can see him have fantastic games, but he’s a little bit inconstant.”
