Chelsea, Everton

6/10 Thibaut Courtois: Conceded three but there was little he could do to deny them from going in. Mirallas’ header was a quality goal. Naismith’s nimble finish meant Courtious had no time to position himself and Eto’o’s header you could maybe argue he could have done better with but like the others it was a precise finish. The new Chelsea number one made a tremendous save to deny fellow countryman Kevin Mirallas however just pushing it onto the post.

6/10 Branislav Ivanovic: The big Serb was at it again continuing his colossal start to the season with another well taken goal. He found himself in a great position latching onto Ramires’ pass, before producing a neat turn matched by a ferocious strike past Howard. Similar to the first two games he proved to be a perpetual attacking threat on the right hand side, constantly finding himself in attacking positions. On the other hand he was at fault to Naismith’s goal as he found himself out of position which allowed the Scott space to run into and finish.

7.5/10 John Terry: It’s fair to say Terry hasn’t started this season the way he did last season. Although he was at evens with Lukaku all match he surprisingly was beaten in the air a fair few times.

6.5/10 Gary Cahill: Another solid display from Cahill as he made some crucial tackles, similar to Terry in the sense that he hasn’t found his feet yet.

6.5/10 Cesar Azpilecuta: The Spaniard’s spot is under threat as he didn’t cover himself in glory here; struggled to contain Coleman as Everton saw Chelsea’s left side as a weakness. Was not helped by Hazard’s lack of cover however but on the whole hasn’t started the season were he ended the last and could find himself on the bench if he doesn’t improve.

6/10 Ramires: The Brazilan remarkably equalled his Premier League total from last season as he picked up a goal and two assists. Took his goal well as he played a one two with Matic before an outside of the foot finish evaded Howard.

8/10 Cesc Fabregas: Got the game of to a flyer as he picked out Costa for the opening goal, should have got another assist for Costa only for Howard to make a great save. Didn’t manage to control the game but had his moments.

7/10 Nemanja Matic: Managed to grab his first goal for the club with a nice finish. Mourinho post match also praised him claiming him to be Chelsea’s best player this season along with Ivanovic.

7/10 Willian: His usual energetic self but struggled to have an impact on the game, he needs to be more effective if he wants to make that RW position his own over Schurrle.

6.5/10 Eden Hazard: A quiet game for the Belgian who had to deal with Coleman’s marauding runs but still managed a flash of brilliance as he created the third goal, accelerating past McCarthy with ease before deflecting it off Coleman.

7/10 Diego Costa: Picked up two goals at Goodison taking his tally for the season to four in three games. He was at the centre of everything good for Chelsea. Was a nightmare for Jagielka and Distin as his well-timed runs made him continual outlet and took both of his goals brilliantly displaying expert composure.

9/10 (MOTM) Substitutes: John Obi Mikel: Brought on for Willian after Matic’s goal in the 75th minutes and done what was asked of him as he saw the game out. Pounced on Besic’s error which allowed him to pick up an assist audaciously back-heling to Costa for Chelsea’s 6th.

7/10 Filipe Luis: Replaced Hazard with seven minutes to go. Nullified Coleman and steadied the ship on his debut.

6.5/10 Didier Drogba: Came on for Fabregas with five minutes remaining but had no time to make an impact.
