Sky News is reporting that Chelsea has agreed a deal with Monaco for Colombian international striker Radamel Falcao, despite the 29-year-old having a terrible season while on loan with Manchester United scoring just four goals in 26 appearances for the club.

There is plenty of speculation to suggest that his poor performance was down to the fact that he is not the player he was following knee surgery that saw him miss last summer’s World Cup, and has many Chelsea fans worried that the club has signed another Fernando Torres.

Here at Soccer Transfer we are not so worried and feel that if the price was right Jose Mourinho has made the deal of the summer, and that Falcao’s poor performance at Old Trafford was due to the fact the Premiership was all new to him, and that working with a manager like Louis van Gaal, who for most of the season was chopping and changing his team every week could not have been easy either.

We think the Colombian international will find his old form at Stamford Bridge and that he will enjoy playing with his former Atletico Madrid teammate Diego Costa as Chelsea aim not only to retain the title but also are in with a good shot to win the Champions League.
