Over the past couple of weeks there has been much talk linking Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah with a move away from Stamford Bridge despite just joining the Blues a year ago from Swiss outfit FC Basel for £11 million.

Turkish side Besikas have claimed to be in talks with Chelsea for the 22-year-old while Inter Milan and Roma have also registered their interest in the wide man.

Mourinho has now quashed any rumour of him leaving by saying he cannot afford to let him go unless for some unforeseen reason Chelsea comes to him with £50 million to buy a new player.

“He can’t leave, I have 20 players today with Didier [Drogba] a bit ill and [Cesar] Azpilicueta injured,” the Portuguese said after the Blues’s 5-0 win at Swansea City on Saturday.

“I have a very short squad, I need everybody. For Salah to leave someone has to come, and I don’t think we are going to let Salah go on loan and then spend some money to bring somebody else in.

“So I don’t think so, unless my club comes to me and says Salah goes on loan and we are going to buy a €65m player.”
