Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has not given up on signing Barcelona winger Pedro, and wants to beat Manchester United to the punch by immediately meeting the player’s £21 million release clause, after deciding to cut his losses on Colombian wise-man Juan Cuadrado.

The 27-year-old South American moved to Stamford Bridge in January from Serie A side Fiorentina, but has failed to make an impact at the club and now looks to be set for the chopping block despite the Blues having paid £26.1 million for him just six short months ago.

Their apparently is no shortage of suitors however in Italy, with Juventus leading the case, but all the interested parties will be looking to pick him up for much less that Chelsea paid following his not being able to adjust to the Premiership.

Pedro meanwhile has decided it is time to say goodbye to the Nou Camp after having only starting 15 games in La Liga for Luis Enrique, last term and knows his situation will not improve with both Neymar and Luis Suarez ahead of him in the pecking order.

Italian football website tuttomercato is reporting that the Blues will offer the 27-year-old a four year contract to move to Chelsea and join up with his former Barcelona teammate Cesc Fabregas as Chelsea defend their Premier League title and go in search of European glory.
