In order to strengthen for their Premiership title defence next season goal.com is reporting that Jose Mourinho is going to make a move for Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke.

The Belgium international has been brilliant since the arrival of new manager Tim Sherwood finding the back-of-the-net 11 times in his last nine games.

Mourinho was interested in signing Wilfried Bony during the January transfer window but opted instead to concentrate on getting Colombian international Juan Cuadrado to Stamford Bridge allowing Ivorian Bony to join Manchester City.

Mourinho sees a lot of Didier Drogba in Benteke, and know that at only 24-year-old there is still plenty of potential.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers also likes the big Belgium, but with Villa looking to raise £30 million from his sale Chelsea would be able to out muscle Liverpool if it came down to it.

There is a little concern over Benteke’s injury record but Mourinho seems to think that between him and Diego Costa the pair will be able to handle the workload.
