Chelsea is preparing to gate-crash Southampton’s attempts to sign Atletico Madrid’s Toby Alderweireld according to the Star.
The 26-year-old central defender has been on-loan at St Marys last season and has impressed Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho with his fine performances for the south coast club.
Southampton already has a deal in place with Atletico to sign the Belgium international for £7 million, but Chelsea feel they can get the Mattress Makers to sell him to them if they beat Southampton’s offer.
Meanwhile Alderweireld has admitted he would rather stay in the Premiership than return to Spain the question remains however if it will be for his current team or Chelsea.
