Following Liverpool’s signing of Roberto Firmino from Hoffenheim, speculation has mounted that move could now pave the way for forward Raheem Sterling’s move away from Anfield.

And Sky Sports understands Chelsea are interested in signing the England international, but the Blues will not pay more than £40m for the player, with Manchester City having already had a bid of that size rejected by the Merseysiders.

Meanwhile Liverpool is bracing themselves for an improved bid from City which they expect will meet their £50 million valuation of the 20-year-old England international.
