Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski has confirmed he will be leaving the Emirates this summer after having previously told the club he wanted to go.

The German international spent the second half of last season on loan at Inter Milan with Gunners manager Arsene Wenger finding no place in his starting XI for the 30-year-old forward.

With his future in north London looking anything but certain the World Cup winner decided to join Istanbul club Galatasaray.

‘I have agreed with Galatasaray,’ he reported to have said.

‘I want to leave.’

Arsenal will receive just £2.1 million from the sale, but it will free up £100,000 per-week from the clubs wage bill.
