Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has said that he would understand if Petr Cech decided to join either Arsenal or Manchester United this summer.

The 23-year-old Belgium shot-stopper took over the No.1 spot from Cech after returning from a loan spell at Atletico Madrid forcing Cech to assume a bit role at the club where for the last 11 years he was the regular starter.

‘If he stays I am happy [but] if he leaves I understand as well,’ said Courtois. ‘Petr is a fantastic guy and I worked really well with him.

‘I think we’ve seen in the games for Chelsea that if I was not playing he was playing and he saved the team as well.

‘When you look at Petr’s quality there is no doubt that he is one of the best in the world and I think we pushed each other to a higher level.’

Cech meanwhile is now 33-year-old and just like Juventus goalkeeper 37-year-old Gianluigi Buffon feels he still has playing time ahead of him and does not want to play No.2 for any team.

Arsenal is of course his number one destination, but Manchester United could prove to be an option also as they look to replace David De Gea.
