Russian billionaire owner Roman Abramovich has given Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho the green light to go out and buy three more players before the transfer window shuts in just under two weeks’ time after having seen his Premiers League winning team held to a draw at home by Swansea, and then outclassed by Manchester City last Sunday, getting beat 3-0 at the Etihad.

Meanwhile the Blues have stepped up their pursuit of Everton defender John Stones with a third bid said to be closer to the Toffee’s valuation of their England international centre-back.

Mourinho would also like to bring in a central midfielder and another Striker, while the Blues boss also admits that unlike Manuel Pellegrini’s Manchester City he also lacks competition in some of his team’s positions.

Several teams will be scrambling for big name signings these next two weeks, and it is nice to know that Chelsea will now be embroiled in the mix with the rest of them.
