Chelsea has received good news in their quest to sign Argentinian striker Mauro Icardi as Inter Milan struggles to come up with the money required to keep the 22-year-old at the San Siro.

A new £2 million per-season deal appeared to be in place between Inter and Icardi that would have made the striker the most expensive player on the clubs books, while at the same time fending off other clubs by tying him down to the Italian club for the next four-years.

Yet just when a deal seemed to be agreed upon by Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio and Icardi’s agent Abian Morano the Spanish agent brought up the player’s image rights asking for a further £1 million that could now see any possible deal collapse.

This now paves the way for Chelsea to make their move and try and bring the Serie A star to England.
