After several weeks of negotiations that saw Atletico Madrid’s Filipe Luis banished to train with the reserves after trying to force a move to Chelsea the two clubs have now agreed to a £20 million transfer fee.

Atletico were already resigned to losing the 28-year-old Brazilian finding a replacement in Granada’s Guilherme Siquiera, yet refused to let Luis leave until Chelsea had agreed to meet his buy-out clause.

Atletico’s on loan goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is also expected to return to Stamford Bridge where he will have to compete with Petr Cech for the number one spot.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has also rekindled his interest in Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane after the Portuguese defender was said to be looking for assurances from trainer Carlo Ancelotti that he would be a regular starter in the team.

The Daily Mail today reporting that while the Italian manager would not like to sell Varane there is a feeling that a deal could be done if Chelsea were to offer £30 million.
