Arsenal prepare for pre-season friendlies

Now that we can put the World Cup behind us, after yet another disappointing performance for England, at least Arsenal fans can take solace in the fact that three Gunners played for the team that eventually won.

Currently all the Arsenal players that took part in the World cup are on holiday , but due to report soon for training at the London Colney headquarters where presumably Jack Wilshere will get a bollocking from manager Arsene Wenger after having been seen smoking in Las Vegas.

Heading into the new season Arsenal only have four friendlies unlike their tour of Asia last summer that saw them play a total of seven fixtures that included four in the Far East with a lot of traveling involved.

This season they kick-off a run of four friendlies on Sunday when they take on Boreham Wood at Meadow Park before traveling abroad to play Thierry Henrys New York Red Bulls in Harrison New Jersey on July 26th.

After that match, the Gunners return home for the annual Emirates Cup where they will play Portuguese champions Benfica, La Liga side Valencia and French club AS Monaco with Arsenal slated to play Benfica and Monaco during the hugely popular two day event.

Then it’s the Charity Shield against Manchester City and then down to the business of the Premier League.

Gunner’s fans will of course all be looking forward to the new season and watching new signing Alexis Sanchez in action along with Joel Campbell following his spectacular display for Costa Rica in the World Cup.

Until then all Arsenal fans are still waiting for that marquee striker that they have been promised, and perhaps one or two other players to boost the squad for what they hope will be another amazing season.
