West Ham centre-back Winston Reid has made it clear to his bosses at West Ham that he wants to join Arsenal if the Gunners decide to make a bid for him this month.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has also confirmed that he is in the market for a defender and Reid who is out of contract in the summer does not want to be denied the chance to move to what for him would be a dream club.

The 26-year-old New Zealand international has refused to sign a new contract at Upton Park with manager Sam Allardyce now resigned to the fact he will leave dropping him last Sunday for the 3-0 win over Hull City, citing the fact that the player is not focused with all the transfer speculation.

Wenger meanwhile is an admirer of Reid and knows that a bid of around £8 million should be enough to see Reid move to north London.
