According to ESPN Brazil Manchester United has signed Hoffenheim attacking midfielder Roberto Firmino for 18€ million.

Brazilian sports reporter Jose Elias speaking on ESPN’s Bate-Bola claimed that a deal was all but wrapped up for the 23-year-old, and that he will undergo his United medical while competing for Brazil in the Copa America.

This talk of Firmino joining United is a little surprising especially when you consider him moving from the Bundesliga to Old Trafford was last brought up back in April, meaning that if a deal has actually been done it must have involved some stealth moves by Ed Woodward to escape the prying eyes of the press or any insider looking to spill the beans.

Another surprise for us at Soccer Transfers is that the Red Devils are strong in that position already having creative players in Juan Mata, Adnan Januzaj and Angel Di Maria.

Perhaps Di Maria could be leaving while there has also been speculation linking Januzaj with a season long loan.
