According to Ukrainian football club Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk Liverpool and Tottenham target Yevhan Konoplyanka is on the verge of signing for AS Roma.
The two Premiership sides had both been strongly linked with the winger with Liverpool even sending managing director Ian Ayre to the Ukraine last January to try and get a deal done.
The two English clubs now however appear to have fallen behind the Serie A side with Roma looking as if they have won the race for the winger.
Speaking to the clubs official website the director general of Dnipro said: “Dnipro and Roma are in talks about Konoplyanka.
“The clubs have almost reached an agreement and Yehven is considering the possibility of changing club.”
Other reports suggest that the 25-year-old would prefer to play in England and is holding out in the hope that a last minute deal can be done with either Liverpool or Spurs.
