German Bundesliga side Schalke has given Juventus permission to talk with long-term Arsenal target Julian Draxler, and while the two clubs are yet to agree a transfer fee for the 21-year-old wunderkind, the Italians sporting director Fabio Paratici has been in Germany, meeting with Draxler’s agent.

Talking about a possible deal Schalke’s general manager Horst Heldt said:

“Juventus made a written request to be allowed to negotiate with Julian’s agent, and we have agreed to it,”

“We have not yet received an actual offer from Turin, though.”

The Italians are looking for a replacement for Arturo Vidal, who is on his way to Bayern Munich, and with Real Madrid’s Isco unavailable and Bayern unwilling to let go of Mario Gotze it would appear as if Draxler is the best option open to the Old Lady.

For at least two years Arsenal has been trying to sign the young German, with Arsene Wenger known to be a huge fan, and to see the Frenchman lose him to Juventus now that it appears he might be available makes us wonder if Arsenal is perhaps still ready to bring Draxler to the Emirates.
